Rhett's Snakes

My mom aka Grammie S made Rhett a beautiful quilt for Christmas. The pattern looks like snakes when it's done and she used buttons for eyes for all the different snakes. She also used a black sharpie to make different looking eyes - seriously sooooo cute! There are 2 snakes on the quilt that go the opposite way as the others and Rhett caught on right away that those two were him and Grammie! He's also assigned the rest of a snake that may or may not change according to his mood that night!
These are the pictures of him opening it. I'll update this in the next couple of days with some close up shots. I forgot that I hadn't taken any yet!
He loves it and sleeps with it every night.
Thanks Grammie!

Mom's Quilt

For Christmas this year my sister Kinsey proposed the idea to make my mom a quilt. She and I, along with mom, LOVE to quilt. And so we planned. Between Kinsey and my stashes we had enough material for the top. Kinsey pieced it. My other sister Alisha contributed by buying the batting and the border material (her quilting gene is a little recessive and hasn't kicked in yet -we're waiting patiently) and we made the trade off at Thanksgiving when we went out for mom and dad's anniversary. This was supposed to give ME lots of time to put the quilt together and machine quilt it. Um, yeah. I almost didn't get it done. I sewed the binding on 2 days before we left for Southern Alberta and Kinsey and I stayed up until 3 am Christmas Eve morning to turn the binding so mom could open it finished. Her reaction made it ALL worth it!
The label hasn't been added yet...I need to mail it. But it's going to say:

Mama's Medley
A medley is combination of
many things.
This medley combines
our love, joy, talents, gratitude
and acknowledges that we are
the women we are because of you!
Sewn with stitches and
Blessed with Love!

Merry Christmas 2009
All our Love
Your Girls

Paxton's Quilt

My mom made this fantastic quilt for my nephew Paxton!
I LOVE it...nice and big and great colors for an early Christmas baby!
And she says it's the best stipling she's done yet.
Enjoy!

Kinsey's quilt

This is Kinsey's first full size quilt. She made it for herself and finished it here at my house this week while visiting. The quilt blocks are 10" finished and are in 5x6. Then the 3 borders. The second border she pieced out of scraps from the quilt that she cut to 4" and the 3rd border is 10". She quilted rectangles over the whole thing. I LOVE this pattern and her materials. And the binding - I helped pick that one out! Well done Kizzy!

My Stars and Stripes

This is my FABULOUS quilt! I LOVE it! I started working on it at the beginning of the month and my nesting instincts just kind of took over. It's also the first quilt that I haven't done any in the ditch quilting. I quilted all the lines into the panels and stars in the squares and was really thrilled with the results. I took the same idea for the border. It's queen sized and cuddle approved by Zane! He wanted to take it to bed with him tonight so I guess that makes it a good one!
